Sadly, we live in a “me” world. Most non-believers aren’t interested in anything but getting ahead. As Christians, we are called to be above all that and help others in need. Scripture says to take care of widows and orphans, but there are others in need as well. Hebrews 13:16 says, “But to do good and to communicate forget not: with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” I hope we can all look for opportunities to help others and exemplify the goodness of God. Can’t Sleep?
Like some people, I often wake in the middle of the night for hours. These times are some of the longest and darkest and are called by some the “night watch.” For me, these awakenings can be caused by thinking about things that worry me or things I’ve forgotten to do or still need to do. What I’ve done to get through those late hours is think about God’s word and pray for everyone and everything. Psalm 63:6 says, “When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.” I find that when I cast my cares upon Him, I relax and fall fast asleep. I am glad He is there to listen, no matter what time it is, amen? God bless you!
Prayers Are Always Heard
Sometimes we pray and God says yes, and sometimes he says no, and other times, the answer is when he’s ready. His timing is always perfect. Isaiah 49:8a says, “Thus saith the Lord, in an acceptable time have I heard thee.” We may be ready, but God may not be! We just have to be patient and pray without ceasing. Amen? God bless you today.
No Rejection
Rejection is the worst! Imagine being rejected by a parent or child; imagine being rejected after a job interview, or even worse, a marriage proposal. God promises that he will never reject us. Isaiah 41:9b-10a tells us: “Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and will not cast thee away. Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God.” It’s wonderful to know that we will always have him on our side. God bless you today!
Beginnings
Everything has a beginning – life, school, jobs. Things like home construction or the writing of a good book. The Bible also teaches us the same thing about God. John 1:1 states, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” A great way to start each day is with God and His word. God bless you!
Praise Him Praise Him!
How often do you give God praise? In the morning…or in the evening before bed? Maybe when He gives us something we’ve asked for or protects us from danger? Psalm 113:3 says, “From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised.” In other words, we should be giving him the glory for everything all the time. For the Defense!
Many of us have been called to serve on jury duty. Some of us may even have been in a courtroom as a plaintiff or defendant. In either case, there is always a prosecutor and defense attorney and a judge. Our Christian walk is like that: we have God as the judge, Satan for the prosecution, and thankfully, Jesus for the defense. 1 Timothy 2:5 says, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” Aren’t you glad we have Him to defend us? The Problem Solver
What do you do when there’s a problem? The natural tendency is to collapse into panic attacks or depression. Many react with understandable fear. When trouble comes, our first response should be to praise God. As we praise Him for who he is, peace and comfort will flood our heart and soul. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4a says, “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort: who comforteth us in all tribulation…” He is our safe place, let’s go to Him first in all things! What Are You Looking For?
Some people are always looking for something they think is missing in their lives, and more often than not, they never find it. As Christians, what should we be looking for? Colossians 3:1 says “If ye be risen in Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.” That’s what I’m looking for, how about you? God bless you today!
Does Anything Last Forever?
Nothing lasts forever, or does it? So many things in our lives break down or fade away or die; things like cars and clothes and the grass we walk on. Is there nothing we can count on? Well, yes, there is. We can count on the enduring word of God! 1 Peter 1:24-25a says, “For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass, the grass withereth and the flower thereof all fadeth away: but the word of the Lord endureth forever…” We can rely on God’s word because it will last forever and not fade away.
