A Beacon of Light

We have a beacon to light our way in this new year. It’s God’s word! When the road ahead is especially dark, it’s a floodlight for us; when we need comfort, it’s a calming table lamp. Psalm 119:105 says: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” His word can be like sunshine for us on dreary day. It can also be a lighthouse when we share it with others! When we spend time in it, we ourselves become radiant. Let’s try to make it a point this year to dwell in the light His word provides and share it with others. I pray his light will shine upon you this year!

Are You Hungry?

Everywhere we look in the world there seems to be food shortages, even here in the United States; this is sometimes called famine. There is a spiritual famine as well! The bible has been compared to food; as bread, milk, meat, nourishment. Twice in the bible God’s word is mentioned as tasting like honey (Ezekiel and John). The truth is: while many people are starving for spiritual truth, many others don’t even know that they are hungry. Amos 8:11 mentions this famine: “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord.” As the days are closer to His return, let’s make sure we are well nourished with His word. God bless you!
