Biblical Truths about Suffering

1.   I believe the bible teaches that suffering is a necessary part of the Christian life.  We love to share in Christ’s glory, but what about sharing in His suffering? The Bible teaches that we must suffer trials if we are to share in the glory.  In Romans 8:18, Paul said, “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present times (life) are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us.”  That means in us, for us, and conferred on us!

2.   Could it be that God uses our present suffering to prepare us for future glory?  This life is just getting us ready for eternity. God is using everything that happens in our life to prepare us for future glory. Get this: there are a lot of questions in life we simply can’t answer.  But in the life to come we will either know the answers or it won’t matter because the glory of Christ will be so great.

3.   Either way we will know that our suffering can never separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.  If in all that I have said you can’t find any comfort, hang on to this: God still loves you. He loves you as much in the darkness as he does in the light.  Nothing you are going through can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus. So, let us keep on going for the Lord. Be encouraged as a Child of God. He loves us even in and through our pain. He loves us even when we don’t act like we love him. He loves us when we feel totally alone. He loves us with an everlasting love. Suffering robs us of our health, happiness, and abundant life God desires for us.  Also, there’s one thing suffering can’t do. It can’t take away the love of God.  Once we’re in the heaven God has prepared for us we will discover that God himself was with us every step of the way. We will stand in his presence redeemed and glorified. Every trace of this decaying world will be left far behind. The sufferings of this life will have faded away. Until we look on his glorious face let us trust in his infallible word that endures forever.  God bless you!
